Step 1
Chop green beans in diagonal slices to get the best flavor. Refer to the 2nd picture above to see how to slice the beans.
Chop garlic into small pieces.
Chop onion in to thin long slices.
Step 2
Boil some water in a vessel and add sliced beans along with 1 chopped garlic clove and some salt.
Step 3
While the beans is cooking heat oil in a flat pan and add some mustard seeds. Once the mustard splutters add the chopped garlic.
Step 4
Once the garlic turn a light golden color, add the sliced onion and let it cook till it turns translucent.
Step 5
By the time the onions turn translucent, the beans would be around 80% cooked. Drain the excess water and add the boiled beans and garlic mixture to the onions and mix well.
Step 6
Add turmeric and red chili powder to the beans and let it fry a little with the onions. Add more salt if needed and continue to fry till its cooked to your desired consistency. Serve as a side with rice or roti.
