Step 1
Wash karela & cut it into small cubes. Cook karela in water till it is half done. Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder & red chilly powder. By the time karela is half done water should have completely evaporated.
Step 2
Take a flat pan, put oil in it. After oil is hot, put cut onions, half cooked karela, 1/2 tsp turmeric & red chilly powder & saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 3
Next, add salt, close it with a lid & cook till the karelas are completely cooked.
Step 4
Finally, add jaggery & cook for 2 to 3 minutes without lid. You can increase or decrease quantity of jaggery as per your preference for sweetness of the sabji.
Step 5
Karela sabji is ready to be served with rice & curry. This karela sabji will have a fried look.
