Step 1
Cook the soaked toor dal in a vessel on medium flame adding enough water.
Step 2
then add all the vegetables in the vegetable section into it.adjust the salt and add 1 tspn turmeric powder.close it with a lid and cook until the vegetables are 75% cooked.
Step 3
now add tamarind pulp into and mix well.
Step 4
for making sambar powder, Take a pan on low flame,add Corrionder seeds,mustard seeds,cumin seeds,fenugreek seeds into it,dry roast it and transfer it to a mixer grinder after allowing it to cool. Then add all the other ingredients in the sambar powder ingredients section into the pan and dry roast it on low flame.allow it to cool and transfer it to same mixer grinder.grind it into a fine powder. Sambar powder is ready
Step 5
add the sambar powder into the cooking vegetables and mix well.
Step 6
for coconut mix, In a mixer grinder add all the ingredients in the coconut mix ingredients section and grind it well adding enough water. Transfer this coconut mix into the cooking vegetables.
Step 7
cook it for five more minutes and turn off the flame.
Step 8
Finally the seasoning, For that,on another pan on medium flame,add coconut oil.when it is hot,add mustard seeds,curry leaves and dry chillies to it and transfer that immediately to the sambar.
Step 9
Kerala traditional sambar is ready!!
