Step 1
To a pressure cooker, add the moong dal, water and turmeric and pressure cook in medium flame for 3-4 whistles. Mash the dal after its cooked and put aside.
Step 2
In a hot pan add- oil & ghee then garlic cloves. Stir for a minute. Next add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
Step 3
After about 30 seconds add the curry leaves and dried red chillies followed by asafetida. Next add finely chopped onions and green chillies.
Step 4
When the onions turn translucent, add the spices- turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder. Cook for 10 seconds.
Step 5
Next add tomatoes and cook unit mushy. Later add the cooked dal and mix. Cook for about a minute and add water to adjust consistancy.
Step 6
Finish by adding coriander leaves, and serve with hot rice and enjoy.
