Soak it for 2 hours.
Papaya

Take half small raw papaya. Peel it and cut it into 3 inch long pieces.

Step 1
Soak dal in water for about two hours. This makes dal cook easily
Step 2
Put soaked dal,water, turmeric in pressure cooker and cook till it's soft. Once it's cooled down blend it using a hand blender. Or beat it down using a churner.
Step 3
Tadka- oil, mustard, green chilly, curry leaves. Let the mustard splutter. Add one chopped onion, let it turn golden yellow in colour.
Step 4
Add 1 chopped tomato. Let it cook for about 3 to 4 minutes. Once it's soft and juicy. Add raw papaya and add water, salt.
Step 5
Once the papaya is almost cooked. Add the cooked dal, 1 inch of tamarind. Add water until it's very thin in consistency.
Step 6
Switch off the flame once the papaya is fully cooked. Garnish it using some fresh coriander.
Step 7
Best eaten with white rice, ghee rice, biryani
