Step 1
Soak white dry peas in water for 6 hrs, wash & pressure cook it with salt, turmeric, sliced 1/4 onion, 1 inch ginger & 1 slit green chilly. Give 6 whistles.
Step 2
For masala - Roast in oil coriander seeds & 2 red chillies for 5 minutes, then add coconut & roast till it turns slight brown. After it cools down, grind it to a fine paste.
Step 3
Add the masala paste to the cooked vattana & boil.
Step 4
Then give seasoning of mustard seeds, 3/4 onion cut fine, half inch finely cut ginger, one green chilly, one dry red chilly & curry leaves & pour it over the vattana masala curry.
Step 5
Vattana masala curry is ready to be served.
