Rajma (Red Kidney Beans)

tbsp
Step 1
Soak rajma overnight, & then boil it in pressure cooker after adding very little red chilly powder & haldi. No. of whistles to be given depends on how well u want it cooked. I like it well cooked so I give 10-12 whistles & then lower the flame & keep on gas for further ten mins. & then switch off the gas.
Step 2
Soak rice in water for half an hour. I use raw sona masoori rice. Keep it in cooker& give 3 whistles.
Step 3
Cut onions & tomatoes into fine pieces & keep aside.
Step 4
Keep kadai on gas, pour sunflower oil into it. After the oil is hot put cut onions, saute for some time. Add turmeric & red chilly powder & saute for a minute, add cut tomatoes, add salt & saute till the gravy becomes thick.
Step 5
Now add boiled rajma into the kadai & cook with closed lid till the Raajma curry blends well with masala. The curry should not be fully dry must have little gravy in it. Switch off the gas & add the boiled rice to it after water is drained out from rice. Mix rajma curry & rice well & keep it covered for 1/2 an hour. Please do not switch on the gas after rice is put in Rajma as rice is already cooked.
Step 6
After 1/2 hour to 45 mins. rajma rice is ready to be served.
