Step 1
Soak rice & urad dal in water for 5 to 6 hrs in separate vessels.
Step 2
Then grind it in mixie separately - 1st urad dal and then rice. Grind them well & pour the ground batter into a big vessel & keep it for fermentation. Both the batter should be put in one vessel, add salt & mix altogether & keep it for fermentation for 12 hrs depending on the temperature.
Step 3
After it has fermented, pour the batter into the idli vessel & keep the idli vessel in cooker & steam for 7 to 10 minutes. Please note to put 1 cup of water in cooker vessel before keeping the idli vessel into the cooker.
Step 4
Idli is ready. Have the idlies with Sambar or chutney. I have already shared the sambar & chutney recipes earlier.
