Onion Fry / Ulli Vada

Ingredients

  • 2-3 units Onions, finely sliced (Finely sliced)
  • 3 units Green chillies, finely chopped (Finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger, finely crushed (Finely crushed)
  • 0.5 handful Curry leaves, finely crushed (Finely crushed)
  • 0.5 handful Coriander leaves, finely crushed (Finely crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons Gram flour
  • 3 tablespoons All purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, green chillies, crushed ginger, curry leaves, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of flavors.
  2. 2Add the turmeric powder, Kashmiri chili powder, all-purpose flour, and gram flour to the vegetable mixture. Mix well, adding a small amount of water if necessary to form a cohesive batter.
  3. 3Shape small portions of the mixture into balls, gently flatten them, and fry in vegetable oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  4. 4Remove the vadas from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with a cup of tea.
