kootu curry (pepper delight)
Indeed a Sadhya delicacy. Kootu Curry is made with yam, raw Kerala plantain n black chick peas.

Step 1
Add to a cooker sufficient water. Put along with it black chick peas that is already soaked overnight. Add chopped yam, chopped plantains.
Step 2
Add required salt, turmeric. Make a fine paste of chillie powder n pepper corns Add the same paste to the cooker. Cook for 6 to 7 whistles.
Step 3
Meantime grind coconut, jeera n a sprig of curry leaves in a
a mixie jar. No need to be fine paste.
Step 4
Open the cooker when it cools n add to it the ground paste.Mix well n let it boil. No need to add water. Just sprinkle. It should be a thick consistency.
Step 5
Season in oil, mustard, urad dal, dry red chillies (keep aside 4 tbsp of coconut for seasoning while grinding)
Step 6
So add coconut n curry leaves. Saute till coconut turns brown n add it to the kootu curry.
