Step 1
Take an instant pot and stack 2 inner pots inside it. Add washed matta rice in one of them along with 8 cups of water. Add kala chana in another one and add water enough to cover it. Set IP for 30 minutes on high and let the pressure release naturally.
Step 2
Meanwhile grind everything in the for grinding section in a mixie grinder.
Step 3
Once the Instant pot is ready, remove the kala chana and drain the water out. Add it to a vessel and keep it on medium heat. Add the ground mixture to it keep it closed. Let this cook till the raw smell of the coconut is gone.
Step 4
Take a vessel and add coconut oil to it. When hot, add mustard seeds and after it splutters add everything in the 'for tadka' section. Let it fry till the onions are brown. Add this to the above mixture of cooked kala chana. Add salt. Your thoran is ready.
Step 5
Remove the rice porridge from the instant pot. Add a spoon of ghee to it and add salt. Enjoy this with the thoran and some spicy pickle.
