Omelette - Kerala Style

A traditional Kerala-style omelette, known as Mutta Omlette, featuring finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chillies, seasoned with turmeric and red chilli powder, and cooked in coconut oil for an authentic taste.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium Onions, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric (A pinch should do)
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder (Adjust to taste)
  • 2 units Green chillies, finely cut
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut, grated (Optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut oil
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, combine the finely chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies, turmeric, red chilli powder, grated coconut, and salt. Crack the eggs into the bowl and whisk thoroughly until well combined.
  2. 2Place a medium pan over low heat and add the coconut oil. Allow the oil to heat gently.
  3. 3Pour the whisked egg mixture into the heated pan. Cook until the bottom is set and the top begins to firm up. Carefully flip the omelette to cook the other side until golden brown.
