Pita Bread/Kubboos

A popular and tasty bread tried in Indian style!!

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 cups All purpose flour (Also known as refined flour or maida)
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Warm water (For yeast activation and dough kneading)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, combine half a cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons of nutritional yeast. Mix well and set aside to activate.
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and half a cup of whole milk. Mix well to combine.
  3. 3Add the activated yeast mixture to the flour mixture. Knead well, adding warm water as needed, until a soft dough forms.
  4. 4Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for 3-4 hours until doubled in size.
  5. 5After the dough has risen, knead it again briefly. Divide into small balls and roll each into a 20 cm diameter circle, using flour to prevent sticking.
  6. 6Heat a dosa pan or any flat pan over medium heat. Place the rolled dough on the pan and cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook the other side until done.
  7. 7Repeat the cooking process for the remaining dough. Serve the pita bread warm, ideally with chicken curry or your favorite dish.
