Gothambu Puttu (Puttu with Wheat Flour)
Puttu is a popular and delicious breakfast dish from Kerala, made with wheat flour and shredded coconut, steamed to perfection.
Instructions
- 1In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, salt, and sunflower oil. Mix thoroughly until the mixture resembles a smooth powder. Gradually add the warm water and knead the mixture for about 5 minutes until a soft and smooth dough is formed.
- 2Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a small ball. Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball on a lightly floured surface into a thin, round disc.
- 3Heat a flat pan over medium flame. Place a rolled disc onto the pan and cook until small bubbles form on the surface. Flip the chapati and cook the other side for a few seconds. Increase the flame to high and cook both sides until evenly cooked and slightly puffed. Remove from the pan and place on a serving plate. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
