Step 1
Roast peanuts on low flame. Keep aside once done.
Step 2
In a Kadai, heat 1 tbsp of oil. Add 1 large onion diced and saute for 2 minutes. Then add 5-6 dried red chillies, 1/2 inch ginger, 1/2 a small tomato finely chopped, garlic cloves and 1 tsp of cumin seeds. Cook until tomatoes turn mushy.
Step 3
Now grind roasted peanuts and the onion tomato mixture along with water and required amount of salt and tamarind paste.
Last step is for tempering. Heat 1 tbsp of oil, then add mustard seeds, chana dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves and 1 dried red chilly.
Add the tempering to the peanut mixture.
Serve hot with Idli or Dosa.
