Ingredients
- 1 pound All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 pound Chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/2 pound Honey
- 1/2 pound Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup Cold water (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1/2 teaspoon Dry ginger (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, oil, and eggs. Knead the dough very well until it comes together. The dough should be smooth and elastic.
- 2Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut the dough into strips approximately 3 inches long. Place the strips on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- 3In a saucepan, combine the chopped nuts, honey, and sugar. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it turns brown and caramelizes.
- 4Remove the glaze from the heat. Quickly wet the baked dough strips with cold water. Spread the glaze over the strips on a board. When cool, pat the strips with your hands to make them thin. Sprinkle with dry ginger.
