Spinach Dal | Instant Pot
This is a simple spinach dal recipe made using an instant pot.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor Dal (Also known as split pigeon peas)
- 3 medium Tomatoes (Chopped)
- 4 count Garlic cloves (Cut into medium-sized pieces)
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 2 cups Spinach (Finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 2 teaspoons Split urad dal
- 4 count Dry red chillies
- 2.5 cups Water

Instructions
- 1In an Instant Pot, combine the garlic cloves, toor dal, and chopped tomatoes. Add turmeric and coriander powder, along with 2.5 cups of water. Set the Instant Pot to manual mode and cook on high pressure for 12 minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
- 2Using a masher, mash the cooked dal mixture. Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode, add the chopped spinach, and let it boil for 3-4 minutes.
- 3In a small pan, heat the oil. Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Then add cumin seeds, split urad dal, and dry red chillies. Sauté until the urad dal is slightly browned. Add this tempering to the Instant Pot.
- 4Serve the spinach dal hot with rice.
