Pothu Curry/Kerala Beef Curry

Kerala beef curry is famous all over India for its taste!

Ingredients

  • 1000 grams Beef
  • 3 units Onions, finely chopped (Finely chopped)
  • 3 units Tomatoes, finely chopped (Finely chopped)
  • 2 units Green chillies, finely chopped (Finely chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 handful Curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Salt (Salt is added according to your taste.)
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons Red chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoons Coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon Black crushed pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 unit Lemon
  • 6 tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  1. 1In a pressure cooker over medium heat, add 6 tablespoons of coconut oil and allow it to heat.
  2. 2Add the chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies, ginger garlic paste, and curry leaves to the hot oil. Sauté well and add salt to taste.
  3. 3Once the onions are well cooked, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, black crushed pepper, and garam masala. Mix well and cook until the spices are well roasted.
  4. 4Add the cleaned beef to the cooker. Adjust the salt, mix well, and add 1 cup of water. Cook for 20 minutes (or 5 whistles) on medium flame.
  5. 5Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the curry for enhanced flavor. The Kerala style pothu varattiyadh/beef curry is ready to enjoy!
