Beef Dry Fry/Pothu Varatti Porichadh
A spicy and flavorful beef fry, perfect for serving with Kerala porotta or chappathi.
Ingredients
- 500 grams Beef
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric
- 2 tablespoons Red Chilli Powder
- 2 tablespoons Coriander Powder
- 2.5 teaspoons Black Crushed Pepper (Divided use)
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 2 teaspoons Ghee
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
- 0.5 unit Onions, finely sliced
- 1 to taste Salt
- 0.25 cup Water (For pressure cooking)

Instructions
- 1Cut and clean the beef thoroughly. Place it in a pressure cooker with salt, turmeric powder, and half a teaspoon of black crushed pepper. Add a small amount of water and cook for 6 whistles, approximately 25 minutes. Once done, set aside.
- 2Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium flame. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, sautéing until translucent. Incorporate red chilli powder, coriander powder, remaining black crushed pepper, and garam masala. Roast the mixture for 5 minutes on low flame.
- 3Transfer the cooked beef into the pan with the sautéed spices. Add ghee and sauté well, cooking for an additional 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- 4Add lemon juice to the beef mixture and mix thoroughly. Ensure the beef is well-coated with the spices and lemon juice.
- 5Serve the beef dry fry hot with Kerala porotta or chappathi. Enjoy the rich and spicy flavors.
