Fenugreek Rice

Fenugreek rice is good for health and helps to reduce body heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 cup Parboiled rice (The cup should be filled with 500 grams of rice)
  • 0.5 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 5 inch Ginger
  • 12 unit/count Garlic cloves
  • 6 unit/count Dry red chillies
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 2 unit/count Cloves
  • 3 unit/count Onions (Chop the onions into square shapes)
  • 6 unit/count Tomatoes (Finely chopped)
  • 1 handful Curry leaves
  • 1 handful Coriander leaves (Chopped)
  • 4 tbsp Sunflower oil
  • 0.25 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Salt (Or as much as needed)
  • 2 cups Water (Use the same cup as for rice measurement)

Instructions

  1. 1Soak the rice for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the other ingredients by chopping the onions into square shapes and finely chopping the tomatoes.
  2. 2In a mixer grinder, blend ginger, garlic cloves, cinnamon, cloves, and 4 dry red chillies into a smooth paste.
  3. 3Heat 4 tablespoons of sunflower oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. After half a minute, add 2 crushed dry red chillies and the prepared spice paste. Fry for 2 minutes.
  4. 4Add the chopped onions to the pressure cooker and fry until they turn light brown. Then add the tomatoes, curry leaves, coriander leaves, and turmeric powder. Fry for 10 minutes.
  5. 5Add the soaked rice and salt to the pressure cooker. Pour in 2 cups of water. Close the lid and cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  6. 6Once the pressure cooker has cooled, open it and stir the rice well before serving.
