Dal Vada
Dal Vada is a popular South Indian snack made from chana dal, onions, and spices, deep-fried to a crispy texture. It is often enjoyed with chutney or sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Chana dal (Also known as split chickpeas or split Bengal gram)
- 1 unit Onions (Finely chopped)
- 0.5 inch Ginger (Finely chopped)
- 3 units Green chillies (Finely chopped)
- 1 sprig Curry leaves (Finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons Coriander leaves (Finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste)
- 2 cups Oil (For deep frying)

Instructions
- 1Soak the chana dal in water for 5 to 6 hours. After soaking, drain the water completely.
- 2Using a mixer grinder, coarsely grind the soaked chana dal with salt. Ensure the mixture remains coarse.
- 3Add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, and coriander leaves to the ground dal. Mix thoroughly.
- 4Form small balls from the dal mixture, flatten them slightly, and create a hole in the center. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.
- 5Serve the dal vada hot with coriander-coconut chutney or sauce.
