DATE PUDDING
This classic Date Pudding recipe from the early 1900s offers a comforting and sweet treat, perfect for a cozy evening. The pudding features a rich combination of dates, molasses, and warm spices, steamed to a tender and moist texture. Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Butter
- 1/2 cup Molasses
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 2/3 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 pound Pitted dates, chopped
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the molasses and milk, stirring to combine. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- 2Add the chopped dates to the wet ingredients and stir. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Pour the batter into a well-buttered mold. Butter the cover of the mold as well. Place the mold in a steamer and steam for 2 1/2 hours, maintaining a steady boil.
