White Icing
A classic white icing recipe from 1888.
Ingredients
- 4 eggs Egg whites
- 1 1/2 pounds Powdered sugar (Originally white sugar dust.)
- 1/2 teaspoonful White vinegar or lemon juice (Originally acetic acid (or the juice of half a lemon).)
- 1/4 oz Rose extract (Originally Royal Extract Rose.)
Instructions
- 1Place the egg whites, powdered sugar, white vinegar or lemon juice, and rose extract in a bowl.
- 2Beat with a wooden spoon until the icing maintains a thread-like appearance for several minutes when some is allowed to run from the spoon. Use as directed.
