Glazed Apples (Six portions)
These glazed apples offer a delightful combination of sweet and tender fruit, coated in a rich, glossy syrup. This classic dessert is simple to prepare, showcasing the natural sweetness of apples enhanced by a buttery glaze. Serve them warm or cold for a comforting and satisfying treat.
Ingredients
- 6 units Apples
- 1 1/2 cups Granulated sugar (Originally "C" sugar. Granulated sugar is a suitable modern substitute.)
- 1 1/2 cups Water
- 1 tablespoon Butter
Instructions
- 1In a deep saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook for 6 minutes without stirring.
- 2While the syrup is boiling, pare and core the apples. Place the prepared apples in the syrup immediately to prevent discoloration.
- 3Cook the apples in the syrup until they are tender, about 10-15 minutes. If the syrup isn't thick enough, remove the apples and boil the syrup a little longer.
- 4Remove the apples from the syrup. Add the butter to the syrup and stir until melted. Pour the buttered syrup over and around the apples. Serve hot or cold.
