Home Made Paneer (Cottage Cheese)

Home made paneer is more delicious and flavorful than store-bought. Knowing how to make paneer allows you to prepare many delicious dishes when guests arrive unexpectedly.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Whole Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar (Can substitute with lemon juice or sour curd)
  • 3 glasses Water (For rinsing paneer)

Instructions

  1. 1In a large pot, bring the whole milk to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
  2. 2Once the milk reaches a boil, add the vinegar and stir gently for one minute until the milk curdles and separates from the whey.
  3. 3Place a muslin cloth over a bowl and pour the curdled milk into it. Rinse with 2 to 3 glasses of water to remove the vinegar's tanginess.
  4. 4Gather the muslin cloth and squeeze out excess water. Place it on a wooden board and set a heavy object on top for 15 minutes to form a block.
  5. 5Remove the heavy object and unwrap the paneer. Cut it into desired shapes and sizes.
