Paneer Pakora/Indian Cottage Cheese Fritters

Delicious paneer pakora recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 gms Paneer (Cut into triangular shapes)
  • 300 gms Gram flour (Also known as chickpea flour or besan)
  • 0.5 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Salt (Plus a pinch for seasoning paneer)
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper powder (For seasoning paneer)
  • 0.25 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 pinch Baking soda
  • 4 cups Oil (For deep frying)
  • 0 as needed Water (To make a thick batter)

Instructions

  1. 1In a bowl, combine 300 gms of gram flour, 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder, 1 tsp of coriander powder, a pinch of baking soda, 1 tsp of fennel seeds, and 1/4 tsp of cumin seeds. Gradually add water to form a thick batter.
  2. 2Cut the paneer into triangular shapes. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder over the paneer pieces.
  3. 3In a deep pan, heat 4 cups of oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  4. 4Dip each paneer piece into the prepared batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Carefully place the coated paneer into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. 5Serve the paneer pakoras hot with your choice of dip or ketchup.
