Guar Fali Sabzi

Cluster beans, or guar fali, are high in protein and fibre. As a result of its low calorie count, it is consumed to lose weight. It can be made quickly and goes well with any kind of chapatis.

Ingredients

  • 200 gms Guar Fali
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds powder
  • 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 tsp Coriander powder
  • 0.5 tsp Amchoor (dried mango powder)
  • 0.5 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (as required)
  • 2 pinch Cumin seeds
  • 1 spoon Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt (as required)

Instructions

  1. 1Place the Guar Fali in a pressure cooker, add water, and cook for one whistle. Once done, drain the water completely.
  2. 2Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and cook until they begin to crackle.
  3. 3Add the boiled Guar Fali to the pan. Stir well and season with salt to taste.
  4. 4Gradually add fennel seeds powder, mustard seeds powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, amchoor, red chilli powder, and asafoetida. Sauté for about a minute to blend the flavors.
  5. 5Cover the pan with a lid and let the dish simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. 6Serve the Guar Fali Sabzi hot with chapatis. Optionally, you can add potatoes for variation.
