Red Cheera Thoran/Lal Sag/Red Spinach

A flavorful side dish made with red spinach, coconut, and spices, perfect to accompany rice and curry.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Red Spinach
  • 8 units Red Onions
  • 2 units Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons Shredded Coconut

Instructions

  1. 1Thoroughly wash the red spinach and chop it finely.
  2. 2In a kadai, heat coconut oil over medium heat. Add coarsely chopped red onions and dry red chillies. Fry until the onions are translucent.
  3. 3Add the chopped spinach, salt, and turmeric to the kadai. Stir well and cook until the spinach is dry.
  4. 4Stir in the shredded coconut and cook for an additional minute. Turn off the heat.
  5. 5Serve the red cheera thoran as a side dish with rice and curry.
