Cheera Thoran (Greens)

Amaranth leaves (Cheera) is a great source of vitamins and this recipe is pretty simple to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Cheera (Red Amaranthus, Red Spinach)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Coconut, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons White rice
  • 7 units Garlic flakes
  • 2 units Dry red chillies
  • 4 tablespoons Coconut oil

Instructions

  1. 1Thoroughly wash the Cheera and its stalks several times in water. Chop them into small pieces. Heat a pan and add the Cheera with a sprinkle of water. Add salt, cover with a lid, and cook on low flame.
  2. 2Once the Cheera is cooked and the water is absorbed, open the lid and add the shredded coconut. Mix well to combine.
  3. 3In a separate pan, heat the coconut oil. Add the white rice and roast until golden. Then add the dry red chillies and crushed garlic. Pour this tadka over the cooked Cheera.
