Steamed Veg Momos/Steamed Veg Dumplings

A popular North East Indian recipe, these Indian-style dumplings are filled with a savory vegetable mixture and steamed to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams All purpose flour (Also known as refined flour or maida)
  • 1 unit Cabbage (Finely chopped)
  • 1 unit Onions (Finely chopped)
  • 1 unit Carrot (Chopped)
  • 0.5 tablespoon Salt (Divided)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 4 units Garlic cloves (Chopped)
  • 3 cups Water (For steaming)

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine 300 grams of all-purpose flour with 0.25 tablespoons of salt. Gradually add water while mixing to form a soft dough.
  2. 2In another bowl, mix finely chopped cabbage, onion, carrot, chopped garlic cloves, 0.25 tablespoons of salt, and 0.5 teaspoons of red chilli powder until well combined.
  3. 3Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a small circle. Place 1 tablespoon of the prepared filling in the center, moisten the edges with water, and fold to seal in your desired shape.
  4. 4In a steamer or idly steamer, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Place the dumplings in the steamer and cook for 10-15 minutes until the dough is cooked through. Serve hot with your choice of dip.
