Gulab Jamun/Rose Water Berry

One of the famous and delicious Indian desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 3 units Green cardamom pods
  • 1 cup Milk powder
  • 0.25 cup All purpose flour
  • 1 pinch Baking soda
  • 3 cups Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Whole milk
  • 1.5 cups Water

Instructions

  1. 1In a saucepan, combine 1.5 cups of sugar, 1.5 cups of water, and 3 green cardamom pods. Add a dash of lemon juice and bring to a boil. Continue boiling until the syrup becomes sticky, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of milk powder, 0.25 cup of all-purpose flour, and a pinch of baking soda. Sift the mixture to ensure uniformity. Add 1 tablespoon of ghee and mix thoroughly.
  3. 3Mix 0.75 tablespoon of lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of milk. Gradually incorporate this mixture into the dry ingredients, kneading to form a sticky dough. Grease your fingers and continue kneading until the dough is smooth and soft.
  4. 4Divide the dough into small portions and roll each into smooth balls, ensuring there are no cracks.
  5. 5In a deep pan, heat 3 cups of ghee over medium flame. Carefully add the dough balls and fry until they turn dark brown.
  6. 6Transfer the fried balls into the warm sugar syrup, allowing them to soak. Serve warm.
