Toor Dal

Step 1
Pressure cook 1 cup toor dal with 1 tomato - instant pot or cooker. Soak the tamarind pulp with warm water, tamarind paste can be used about 2 tsp. Add plain water + tamarind water to a desired consistency to the cooked and mashed dal. I usually add ~ 2 times the ratio of water to cooked dal to get a thin consistency. Add rasam powder + coriander powder and bring it to boil. Optional: Add little jaggery. Let it boil for 2 mins and add tadka. Finally garnish with cilantro ( 1 full bunch, yummm :P)
Tadka: Ghee + mustard. seeds + cumin seeds + red chilis + 1 cut tomatoes + black pepper + curry leaves.
