Instructions

  1. 1Wrap the bread loaf closely in a towel wrung out of cold water. Cover with several thicknesses of dry cloth.
  2. 2After four hours, cut away the crust from the bread. With a thin, sharp knife, cut the loaf into slices as thin as possible. Spread the slices with butter.
  3. 3If desired, add thin shavings of meat, potted meat, or chopped nuts to the buttered bread slices. Roll the slices very closely.
  4. 4Pile the rolled slices on a serving dish.
