The combination of tender potatoes, crispy breadcrumbs, and a golden-brown exterior creates a satisfying contrast of textures and flavors. These savory balls are deep-fried to perfection, offering a classic and delicious experience.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Potatoes
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Egg
- 3 cups Oil for frying (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
Instructions
- 1Place the potatoes in a pot and cover with water. Boil the potatoes with their skins on until tender, about 15 minutes. The potatoes should be of uniform size for even cooking. Drain the potatoes and let them cool until you can handle them.
- 2Once the potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel them. In a bowl, mash the potatoes. In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs. Roll the mashed potato into small balls. First, roll each ball in the breadcrumb mixture, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally, coat it again with the breadcrumbs.
- 3Heat the oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop the potato balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the potato balls with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
