- 1 pound Ground beef (from the round)
- 1/4 cup Bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1 whole Egg
- 1/8 teaspoon Grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon Onion salt (Originally 'onion juice'. Substituted with onion salt for convenience.)
- 1/2 teaspoon Chopped green pepper
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Chopped parsley
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe). Used for greasing the pans.)

- 2In a large bowl, add the ground beef, soaked bread crumbs, egg (well beaten), nutmeg, onion salt, parsley, salt, green pepper, and paprika. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- 3Preheat broiler. Pat the meat mixture into a shape about 1 1/2 inches thick in a well-buttered tin pan. Broil for 5 minutes under the hot broiler. Reduce the heat slightly and cook for another 10 minutes. Turn the steak into another buttered pan of the same size and cook that side for 10 minutes, or until cooked through. Pie tins may be used.
