Simple Moong Dal - Instant Pot (One Pot) Recipe
A simple and flavorful moong dal recipe made using an Instant Pot, perfect for a quick and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Moong Dal
- 1 tbsp Ghee (You can also substitute this with oil)
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1 pinch Salt (As needed)
- 1 bunch Coriander leaves
- 1 pinch Hing
- 4 units Garlic cloves (Thinly sliced)
- 1 unit Onions
- 2 units Tomatoes
- 1 bunch Curry leaves
- 0.5 unit Lemon
- 2 cups Water (Adjust to desired consistency)

Instructions
- 1Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode. Once hot, add the ghee and allow it to melt.
- 2Add cumin seeds and hing to the hot ghee. Sauté for about 30 seconds until aromatic, then add curry leaves and sauté for another 30 seconds.
- 3Add the sliced garlic and chopped onions to the pot. Sauté for a few minutes until the onions are translucent.
- 4Incorporate the chopped tomatoes, turmeric, and red chilli powder. Sauté for a few more minutes until the tomatoes soften.
- 5Add the washed moong dal and a pinch of salt. Pour in water to achieve the desired consistency.
- 6Switch off the sauté mode and set the Instant Pot to manual mode. Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
- 7Allow the pressure to release naturally. Stir in the juice of half a lemon before serving.
