A simple and easy recipe for making traditional South Indian rice dosa, perfect for breakfast or as a main dish.

  • 2 cups White rice (Use any variety of white rice suitable for dosa)
  • 1 tablespoon Fenugreek seeds (Adds flavor and aids fermentation)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups Water (For soaking and grinding)

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine the white rice and fenugreek seeds. Cover with water and allow to soak for approximately 4 hours.
  2. 2Drain the soaked rice and fenugreek seeds. Using a mixer grinder, grind them with salt and enough water to form a smooth, thin batter. Let the batter rest for another 4 hours to ferment.
  3. 3Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a thin layer. Cook until the edges start to lift, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  4. 4Serve the rice dosa hot with your choice of chutney or curry. Enjoy the crispy texture and delightful taste.
