Simple south Indian style tomato rasam
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 1 pinch Asafetida
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 handful Coriander leaves
- 2 spoon Tamarind pulp
- 3 unit/count Tomatoes
- 1 cup Water (Adjust as needed for consistency)

Instructions
- 1In a bowl, combine the tomatoes, chilli powder, turmeric, cumin seeds, salt, asafetida, coriander powder, and crushed garlic cloves. Use your hands to mash the mixture well. Add the tamarind pulp and water, mixing thoroughly to combine.
- 2Transfer the mixture to a pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Allow it to boil thoroughly to blend the flavors. Optionally, temper the rasam by heating oil in a small pan, adding mustard seeds, dry chillies, and curry leaves, and then pouring this over the rasam.
