Preservation of Salted Raw Mangoes

A traditional method for preserving raw mangoes using salt and water, allowing them to be stored and used as a flavorful side dish.

  • 15 units Green Mango (Raw Mango)
  • 4 cups Water
  • 4 tablespoons Salt
  • 1 unit Green Chili, smashed (For serving suggestion)
  • 2 units Garlic cloves, smashed (For serving suggestion)
  • 1 drop Coconut Oil (For serving suggestion)

Instructions

  1. 1Thoroughly clean the mangoes in water and wipe them dry with a cloth. Set aside.
  2. 2In a pot, bring the water to a boil and dissolve the salt in it. Allow the salted water to cool completely.
  3. 3Transfer the cooled salted water into a wide-mouthed jar. Add the mangoes one by one, ensuring they are fully submerged. Seal the jar and store for at least one month before use.
  4. 4To serve, remove a mango from the jar and place it on a plate. Add smashed green chili, smashed garlic cloves, and a drop of coconut oil. Smash all ingredients together and serve as a side dish.
