Poha Chivda
Chivda made with poha or beaten rice flakes is a very popular savory teatime snack in India. It is super easy to make and makes for a very delicious snack.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Poha, beaten rice (Preferably thin beaten rice flakes)
- 0.25 cup Peanuts
- 2 tablespoons Cashews
- 10 pieces Coconut pieces
- 4 tablespoons Kala Chana
- 4 tablespoons Sunflower oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 2 pinches Asafetida
- 3 pieces Dry red chillies
- 3 sprigs Curry leaves

Instructions
- 1In a pan, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat. Add the peanuts, kala chana, cashew nuts, and coconut pieces. Sauté until they are golden brown. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl.
- 2In another pan, dry roast the poha over low to medium heat until it becomes crisp. Ensure to stir continuously to prevent burning.
- 3In a pan, heat a little sunflower oil. Add mustard seeds, asafetida, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the mustard seeds crackle and the spices are fragrant.
- 4Add the tempering to the bowl with the nuts and coconut. Also, add the roasted poha and mix well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
