Beet Root Thoran

This recipe is cooked by grating the beetroot and is used as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 unit Beetroot (Grated)
  • 1 unit White onion (Chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Raw rice
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 2 units Dry red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 3 tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 0.5 cup Coconut, shredded
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Clean the beetroot thoroughly, wipe it with a cloth, and grate it finely.
  2. 2In a clay cooking pot, heat coconut oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves, and chopped onions. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  3. 3Add the grated beetroot, turmeric, and salt to the pot. Mix well and cover with a lid. Cook on low flame until the beetroot is tender.
  4. 4Add the shredded coconut to the pot and mix well. Cook for a few seconds to combine the flavors.
