Ingredients
- 1 pound Honey
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 4 count Eggs
- 1 tablespoon Allspice
- 3 tablespoons Salad oil (or vegetable oil)
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons Baking powder
Instructions
- 1Gently warm the honey in a saucepan over low heat, just until it becomes warm to the touch. Do not overheat.
- 2In a large bowl, rub the egg yolks well with the granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.
- 3In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until they form stiff, frothy peaks.
- 4Gently mix the warmed honey, the yolk and sugar mixture, the beaten egg whites, allspice, and salad oil together in a large bowl. Gradually add the sifted flour and baking powder, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased and floured baking pan. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
