Betel Nut Tooth Powder
A traditional natural tooth powder made from properly roasted betel nuts, ground to a fine chocolate-colored powder. Can be enhanced with tincture of myrrh, camphor, and eau de Cologne for additional benefits.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces Betel nuts, sliced (Fresh betel nuts, not pre-roasted)
- 1 teaspoon Tincture of myrrh (Optional enhancement)
- 1 teaspoon Tincture of camphor (Optional enhancement)
- 1 teaspoon Eau de Cologne (Optional enhancement)
Instructions
- 1Slice the betel nuts thinly to prepare them for roasting. Do not burn or char them.
- 2Roast the sliced betel nuts like coffee beans to a rich brown color, not black. Monitor carefully to achieve a chocolate-brown color, not charcoal black.
- 3Allow the roasted betel nuts to cool completely before grinding.
- 4Grind the cooled roasted betel nuts into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or spice grinder.
- 5Pass the ground powder through fine muslin cloth to separate the fine powder from any grit or coarse particles.
- 6Take the grit that remained in the muslin and re-grind it, then sift again through muslin. Repeat this process until all powder passes through the muslin and achieves a fine, chocolate-colored consistency.
- 7If desired, add tincture of myrrh, tincture of camphor, and eau de Cologne to the finished powder. Mix thoroughly to combine.
- 8Transfer the finished tooth powder to an airtight container for storage. Use a small amount on a damp toothbrush for daily dental care.
