RAMOS GIN FIZZ—Country Club Style
This vintage 1917 variation of the classic Ramos Gin Fizz delivers a creamy, frothy texture with a distinct floral note from orange flower water. Old Tom gin provides a subtle sweetness that pairs perfectly with the rich milk and delicate egg white foam, creating a sophisticated cocktail known for its cloud-like consistency. Served in a highball glass, this 'Country Club Style' libation offers a refreshing and elegant drinking experience.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Ice cubes (Originally '1 lump Ice'. Used for shaking.)
- 1 dash Lemon juice (Freshly squeezed recommended.)
- 1 dash Orange flower water (Originally 'Orange Water'.)
- 1 large Egg white (Originally 'White of Egg'. Contains raw egg; use pasteurized egg whites if preferred.)
- 1.5 ounces Old Tom Gin (Originally '1 jigger Burnette's Old Tom Gin'. Old Tom gin is slightly sweeter than London Dry.)
- 1 teaspoon Powdered sugar
- 1 ounce Milk (Originally '1 pony Milk'. A pony is approximately 1 fluid ounce. Whole milk or heavy cream recommended for texture.)
- 1 dash Seltzer water (Soda water.)
Instructions
- 1In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, orange flower water, egg white, Old Tom Gin, powdered sugar, milk, and the dash of seltzer water.
- 2Shake the mixture vigorously without ice for about 10-15 seconds. This 'dry shake' helps emulsify the egg white and creates a richer foam.
- 3Add the ice cubes to the shaker and shake well again until the outside of the shaker is frosty and cold. Strain the mixture into a Highball glass and serve immediately.
