Cottage Pudding

A simple and classic baked pudding, perfect for a comforting dessert. Serve with vanilla sauce or a hard sauce.

Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup Butter, softened
  • 0.6666666666666666 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2.25 cups All-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. 2Beat the egg well and add it to the creamed mixture. Mix until well combined.
  3. 3In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. 4Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. 5Pour the batter into a buttered cake pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. 6Let the pudding cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla sauce or hard sauce.
