Instructions
- 1Peel the oranges and cut them into lengthwise slices. Crush the shells of the nuts, remove the nut meats, and cut the nut meats in halves.
- 2Mix the nuts with olive oil. Sprinkle the orange slices with olive oil. Add lemon juice if the oranges are sweet. Garnish with slices of orange from which the skin has not been taken, also, if desired, with lettuce dressed with French dressing. The oil and lettuce may be omitted, using sugar in place.
- 3To make French dressing: Mix 1/2 teaspoonful of salt, 1/4 teaspoonful of pepper, and a few grains of cayenne or paprika. Add 2 to 6 tablespoonfuls of vinegar or lemon juice and 6 tablespoonfuls of oil. Mix the condiments, add the oil and mix again; then add the acid, a few drops at a time, and beat until an emulsion is formed. Pour over the lettuce and toss.
