Claret Jelly for Sweet Sandwiches
A claret jelly recipe for sweet sandwiches, adapted from a historical recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Gelatin
- 1 cup Cold Water
- 1 cup Boiling Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Claret (Originally orange juice. Substituted with claret as per the recipe instructions.)
- 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
Instructions
- 1Soak the gelatin in the cold water for 5 minutes. Dissolve the softened gelatin in the boiling water.
- 2Add the sugar to the gelatin mixture and stir until dissolved. Strain the mixture to remove any undissolved particles. When cold, add the claret and lemon juice.
- 3Mould in sheets three-eighths of an inch thick. Refrigerate until set.
