Cheese Fondue
A classic cheese fondue recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/4 pound Cheese, broken into bits
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- 1 saltspoonful Baking soda (Originally soda. Substituted with baking soda.)
- 1 saltspoonful Mustard powder
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper or paprika (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
- 1/2 cup Stale bread crumbs
- 3 Eggs
Instructions
- 1Sift the baking soda, mustard powder, and cayenne pepper (or paprika) into the flour. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until frothy.
- 2Gradually add the milk to the frothy butter and flour mixture, stirring constantly. Once the sauce boils, add the bread crumbs and cheese. Cook and stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- 3Add the eggs, beaten until light, and serve immediately.
