French Plum Pie
A classic French plum pie recipe.
Ingredients
- 5 cupfuls Flour
- 1 cupful Butter (or vegetable shortening) (Originally lard. Substituted with butter for modern preference. Can also use vegetable shortening for similar texture.)

- 1 cupful Water
- 1/2 teaspoonful Baking powder
- 2 cups French prunes (Steeped in water overnight.)
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Lemon
- 1/2 cupful Water
- as needed Milk
Instructions
- 1Sift 5 cupfuls flour with 1/2 teaspoonful baking powder. Rub in 1 cupful butter and 1 cupful butter cold. Add 1 cupful water, mix into a smooth lithe dough.
- 2Line pie plate with paste; wet edges. Add 2 cups French prunes steeped in water overnight, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Lemon, and 1/2 cupful water. Cover the pie with the paste, wash with milk.
- 3Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
