Instructions
- 1Dissolve 1/2 box of gelatin in 1 quart of milk. In a separate bowl, beat together the yolks of 3 eggs, 1 cupful of sugar, and the juice of 1 lemon. Stir the egg mixture into the gelatin and milk mixture. Heat gently, just until it barely comes to a boil. Remove from heat and flavor with vanilla extract to taste.
- 2Let the gelatin mixture cool slightly. In a clean bowl, whip the whites of 3 eggs to a stiff froth.
- 3Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the cooled custard mixture. Pour the mixture into molds and set away to cool in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until set.
